Lighter 2019 Ram Delivers More MPG

Now offering features that have never been included in a half-ton pickup truck, the 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 is the new bar for comfort, efficiency, technology and durability. Unveiled at the recent Detroit North American International Car Show, the 2019 Ram is lighter than its predecessor, despite increasing rigidness and upping the maximum towing capability. The lower weight and a new eTorque system will deliver increased fuel efficiency without sacrificing power, according to Ram brand chief Mike Manley. “The all-new 2019 Ram 1500 delivers a no-compromise approach to the full-size truck segment with strength, durability, technology and efficiency,” Manley said. “The Ram 1500 offers truck buyers leading-edge innovation with 225 pounds of weight reduction, 12,750 pounds of towing capability, a stunning Uconnect 12-inch touchscreen display and active systems that improve fuel efficiency and assist drivers.” Look for the new Ram this fall on the showroom floor at the Chapman Payson Auto Center.

Best Ride and Handling Gets Better

The 2019 Dodge Ram remains the only full-size truck with available air suspension, delivering an optimal ride and supreme aerodynamics. With the addition of FRD shocks to the equation, the new Ram is more comfortable than ever. An automatic load leveling system detects an increased weight in the bed or on the hitch and adjusts the air pressure to level out the truck. The driver can also manually lower the truck to increase efficiency and make it easier to load and unload the truck, as well as provide for simpler access to the cab. Almost all trim packages offer an off-road package that includes a one-inch lift, 18-inch wheels with 33-inch tires, special trail-rated shock absorbers and skid plate protection.

eTorque System Acts as Mild Hybrid

The new powertrain for the 2019 Dodge Ram utilizes a unique mild hybrid system that replaces the alternator with a generator that’s attached to a 48-volt battery pack. The battery adds torque upon startup and drives the fuel-saving start/stop function that shuts the Ram off when you come to a complete stop and then starts up again when you step on the gas.  Braking offers a regenerative function that recharges the battery pack. Most trim packages will come with the standard Pentastar V6, a time-proven engine that has been upgraded with variable valve timing for increased power and gas mileage. For more power, you might consider the beefy 5.7L HEMI V8 that produces 395 horsepower and a crushing 410 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are integrated with an eight-speed automatic transmission that makes sure you are always in the right gear for the most in power and efficiency. You can see the new Dodge Ram when it comes to Chapman Payson Auto Center this fall.
