Original Color Made Debut in 1970

If you are old enough to remember the Chargers and Challengers from the Muscle Car heyday of Detroit, you’re certain to remember the color “Plum Crazy.” Once a favorite of gearheads across the nation, the color faded from existence as time moved on and tastes changed. Dodge brought the color back in time for the Woodward Dream Cruise this month to the delight of thousands of fans. “Powerful muscle cars painted in impactful colors make Woodward Dream Cruise the perfect setting for Dodge to debut the newest generation Challenger and Charger models in Plum Crazy,” said Tim Kuniskis, CEO of the Dodge brand before the event. “And with our strongest muscle car arsenal ever, we knew it was time to reach into our Dodge paint code archive and offer our high-performance R/T Scat Pack and SRT Hellcat models in one of the most iconic exterior colors of all time.”

Pick the Plum Coming in September

Head to your Chapman Payson dealership to put your order in for what is sure to become a collector’s item. The Challenger will offer Plum Crazy on the SXT Plus, R/T, Hemi Scat Pack Shaker, SRT 392 and 707-horsepower monster SRT Hellcat. For the Charger, you can choose the SXT if you order 20-inch rims, R/T, SRT 392 and Hellcat. Keep in mind that the Hellcat will continue to have a very limited supply due to the number of people who desire that insane amount of horsepower. The production run is also limited on all models in Plum Crazy, helping ensure those who are lucky enough to get that color truly have a unique car.

Mopar or No Car

Fans of the iconic Mopar brand will demand that their Plum Crazy car be the king of the road. Dodge is ensuring that by only offering it in brands that offer up to 485 naturally aspirated horsepower, not counting the Hellcat’s 707-supercharged horses. For the Challenger, the SXT Plus has 305 horsepower, but is the most fuel efficient option on the highway, coming in at 30 mpg. The R/T options all have the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 with a six-speed manual or available paddle-shift automatic. The Challenger R/T Scat Pack, 392 Shaker and SRT 392 all offer 485 horsepower, the most you can get without going to a Hellcat. Charger packages all offer similar options, which you can discuss with a sales pro by taking a visit to Chapman Payson.

Inspired Off-roader is Tribute to Original Willys

As the original creator of what is now known as the Jeep Wrangler, the Willys corporation started producing the utility four-wheel drive vehicle for the military in 1940. That prototype evolved into the MB Model, which accounted for more than 300,000 vehicles delivered by Willys in World War II. Different models evolved throughout the 1950s, including Willys Trucks, station wagons and the Jeepster, but none proved as profitable as the original design which is evident in the new 2015 Wrangler Willys Wheeler. See how you can get your hands on one of these special order vehicles by visiting Chapman Payson Auto Center.

New Willys is Ultimate Off-road Vehicle

By combining the legendary styling of the Willys with such modern features as Jeep’s Command-Trac 4×4 technology, a 3.73 locking rear differential, Rubicon rails and all-terrain tires, the new Willys Wheeler can handle just about anything you care to attempt in the off-road circuit. While the power train and suspension are built to handle tough terrain, the interior is full of creature comforts that let you enjoy traveling to and from the trail. A leather-wrapped steering wheel, chrome shift knob, plush seating and Bluetooth technology deliver you to the lap of luxury that’s seldom seen on such tough off-road vehicles. Jeep uses seven decades of innovation to create the ultimate off-road vehicle.

Plenty of Other Wrangle Choices

If the Willys is a little too much Jeep for you, consider the basic Wrangler. As the icon of all four-wheel drive vehicles, it starts at just $26,995. It holds its resale value amazingly well and is more than adequate for most folks off-roading needs. Whether you choose a model with a soft or hard top, be prepared to go topless when the weather allows and earn the stares of envious commuters stuck in their little gas-saving sedans. With a wash-out interior that allows water to flow through drain plugs, it’s easy to bring your Jeep to like-new condition after a tough weekend of mudding.

Unmistakable Styling Adds to the Appeal

Although you may not be able to tell a Toyota from a Hyundai in a parking lot, the unmistakable styling of the Jeep Wrangler immediately tells you this is a vehicle meant for business. The classic round headlights, seven slot grille and beefy fender flares announce to the world you’re a Jeep person.
